  Guitar palyer Walt Musekamp

started playing the guitar as a teenager on the west coast in the 60s. At first it was the acoustic music of Dylan and his contemporaries, but during the next decade he branched out into all styles on both the electric guitar and electric bass. He taught music professionally for 8 years and spent several years on the road playing music all over BC and Alberta. A visit to the Caribbean during the 70s opened his ears to a more rhythmic approach to music and started a life-long obsession. The last part of the 20th century saw Walt take a break from music to raise a family and relocate to the Okanagan. Now that the new millennium is here, Walt has found his way back into the music scene and has been one of Kath’s Tomkats in his role as her bass player for the past 6 years – he has also extended his long list of music genres and joined kath ‘in blue’ old jazz and blues quintet for a couple of years - now that the two bands have amalgamated, he is the band’s lead guitar for the 'tomkats'.

  Bass Player Roy Kawano

Roy is another 30 year veteran who started working as a bass player in the 70s with jazz, moved into rock, country and even Latin; his love for jazz and blues is evident with his great musical history in providing his own 'percussive' style to the the rhythm section of the band.

  Saxophonist Craig Carmody

performed with a variety of rock bands as a teenager that took him into the 70s with a popular progressive rock band "Heat Exchange" – they recorded three singles under the Yorkville label. Craig and Laurie raised three sons in Edmonton where he worked in the retail music business, honed his skills as a woodwind instrument repairman and continued performing with the likes of the award winning and the Cold Sweat band – an 8 piece R&B band.

The family relocated to Vernon in 1994 where playing saxophone took a back seat to other pursuits as Craig developed his instrument repair business (Dr. Sax's Woodwind Service), and worked at their downtown Vernon store Dreamweaver, as well as taught music lessons.  In 2005, no longer able to suppress his desire to perform, Craig returned to active playing, he divides his time between his businesses, and a growing performance schedule, which includes the Mark Rose Swing Band, his own small jazz group "3/4tet," other freelance saxophone gigs, and, of course, (and most importantly) Kath and the Tomkats.

  Drummer John Keith

played drums for ‘blue’ but is also a talented sound engineer. John has played, recorded and toured with many freelance artists across Canada and the US where he was privileged to play with the likes of Mojo Williams.  Besides playing drums and percussion for Kath, his extensive background as a sound technician, where he worked with big names like Big Sugar, Biff Naked, Nickelback, Wide Mouth Mason, Doug and the Slugs, Long John Baldrey to name a few, makes him a huge asset as her live-sound engineer for the band.
